Compare · For IB Teachers

Koncepts vs Toddle, for IB teachers.

The student side

Koncepts is not teacher-only.

Koncepts ships a free student app for MYP and DP, plus a dedicated PYP app. Students join their class with a code and assigned quizzes, notes, and exams appear with due dates. MYP students get quizzes levelled by criteria A to D (levels 1 to 8), notes and cheatsheets per subtopic, a voice-led AI Class Tutor, homework help with escalating hints, and real eAssessment past papers. DP students get real past papers with markschemes, timed exams, an HL/SL-aware tutor, and an EE/TOK draft evaluator.

When a student gets something wrong, Koncepts pinpoints the exact sub-skill missed against the markscheme and sends a targeted follow-up assignment built for exactly that gap, with results flowing back to the teacher’s class view. Toddle’s student app, in Toddle’s own description, is built for documenting and submitting: it records learning rather than teaching it.

Strengths and weaknesses

An honest read of both.

No tool wins everything. Here is where each one is strong, and where it isn't.

Koncepts

Strengths
  • AI-native across every toolPlanning, assessment, and feedback are generated, not just stored.
  • IB-exclusive designCriteria A to D, command terms, Statements of Inquiry, and achievement levels are native from the first click.
  • Free individual accessA teacher can start today without school procurement.
  • Real MYP eAssessment papersGenuinely hard to obtain elsewhere, browsable with markschemes.
  • Programme-correct behaviourNo marks or bands anywhere in PYP; no unnecessary planners in DP.
Weaknesses
  • Not a school system of recordNo portfolios, family communication, or report cards.
  • Content library depthDeepest in Maths and Sciences today; other subject groups still expanding.
  • Newer companyShorter track record than established LMS vendors.

Toddle

Strengths
  • Whole-school collaborationPlanning, portfolios, reports, and family communication in one place.
  • Best-in-class PYP plannerLiving POI with concept and Learner Profile analytics.
  • IB Projects workflowsGuided Personal Project, Community Project, and Service as Action.
  • Large DP question bankDP Library with 8,500+ exam-style questions.
  • Platform consolidationToddle reports 85% of its schools replace 3 or more platforms.
Weaknesses
  • AI gated to the Ultimate tierPlanning Pro and Essentials include no AI at all; every AI feature requires the most expensive plan (as of August 2026).
  • No individual teacher planAdoption requires a whole-school decision.
  • Long minimum term36-month minimum in published terms (as of August 2026).
  • AI tutors not IB-groundedTeacher-authored, generic subject list, no command terms or markscheme grounding.
Can you use both?

Yes, and many teachers do.

Toddle (or any LMS) can remain the school’s system of record while teachers use Koncepts to generate unit plans, lessons, assessments, and feedback, then bring the artifacts back into their school workflow. Because Koncepts is free for individual teachers, this requires no procurement decision. Schools comparing the two head-to-head are usually deciding whether they want an LMS whose AI arrives only at the Ultimate tier, or an AI-native teaching toolkit alongside their existing systems.

Questions, answered

The details, before you ask.

Is Koncepts an alternative to Toddle?
For AI planning, assessment, and feedback tools, yes. For whole-school functions like portfolios, family communication, and progress reports, Toddle covers ground Koncepts does not. Many teachers use Koncepts alongside their school's LMS.
Is Koncepts really free for teachers?
Yes. Individual IB teachers use Koncepts free with no waitlist. School plans are available for whole-school deployment.
Does Toddle have AI features?
Yes, but only on its Ultimate tier. Ultimate adds an AI curriculum design assistant, AI tutors, AI powered progress reports, AI assisted grading, AI conversational analytics, and AI worksheet generation. The two lower tiers, Planning Pro and Essentials, include no AI features (per Toddle's published IB pricing, August 2026).
What do Toddle's lower tiers include?
Planning Pro covers curriculum planning (unit, lesson, weekly, yearly planning, curriculum mapping and analytics, and the Toddle unit library). Essentials adds the LMS layer: assessments, portfolios, gradebook, progress reports, attendance, timetable, and announcements. Neither includes AI.
Does Koncepts have a student side?
Yes. Koncepts includes a free student app for MYP and DP (criterion quizzes, real past papers, AI tutoring, homework help, EE/TOK evaluation) plus a dedicated PYP app, all connected to the teacher's class, including automatic follow-up assignments targeted at the exact sub-skill each student missed. Toddle's student app is for documenting and submitting work rather than studying.
Does Koncepts have real IB past papers?
Yes. Real MYP eAssessment papers are browsable question by question, tagged by criterion and mark value, with markschemes, and can be turned into timed, proctored exams.
